Not only has excalibah been wrongly cut completely, but .P & Skitz have been cut from 3 down to 2 hours... and to top it off, that cock that thinks the hip-hop scene consists of Crunk and Grime has been given an extra show!!!
Is it me or is this taking the piss?

Yo, it ain't just Semtex that plays bolllox music, Ace and Invisible, G Money and Nesha and a whole host of other average R'n'B djs are polluting the airwaves too. The way I see it, 1xtra are trying far too hard to play 'street music'. It's a win win for them; they get to give the impression they're taking risks with the 'hottest new black music' while the listeners get to feel they're taking a walk on the wild side by listening to it while in reality the BBC are still getting their dicks sucked by majors for plugging their records. Instead of providing an outlet for Britain's burgeoning 'urban' (hate that term but find myself increasingly compelled to use it) music scene they're actually playing the same bullshit as Westwood or whatever other jokers on Kiss, etc are playing and getting mad plaudits for their troubles. Clever really, all they had to do was package it the right way and everyone jumps on it. To be fair, P and Skitz play dope tunes, and even Ace and Invisible will drop some quality shit but far too often they're forced to reel out crap dictated to them by whoever's controlling the beeb's playlist for the week. However, it's important to remember that UK hip hop has never had the level of exposure it's had on 1xtra. Man like our very own Chima have been able to get their shit out on national radio, so it's important to bear that in mind too. Shit, maybe I shouldn't write these things after the pub. Oh well.....

Nice 1  Semtex wasn't so bad when the station first came on in 2002, and i respected him (being a 1 armed DJ n' all) but as soon as he got his lips wrapped around dizzy rascals arse... everything changed and according to him hip-hop and grime became the same thing!!! Serious.... Word! |
